No.1 Peebles Road Coffee House (4♥) is a coffee oasis that's well-frequented by locals, walkers and cyclists in the know.

They do a very fine job using North Berwick's Steampunk coffee roasters and change their house coffee seasonally. You'll have  a choice of espresso-based, filter and cafetiere brew methods to accompany their equally high quality home-baked cakes. The latter can range from rocky road, to fig, apricot and marmalade loaf, to tiffin or chocolate and salted caramel cake, to give you a sense of the delights that await you.

Their sourcing strategy is to use as many local providers as they can so they support the local economy - as well as share the great produce from the area. Alongside the usual poached and scrambled egg breakfasts are avocado on toast, big mushrooms and French toast. Lunches include soups, hearty sandwiches, baked camembert, baked sweet potato and bagels.

The owners of No 1 Peebles Road are keen cyclists and so the café is very much set up to welcome riders. There are tables and chairs outside and blankets are provided for chillier days. Inside the stone building are a number of chunky wood communal tables and benches, sharing the space with the food and coffee preparation areas.

The town of Innerleithen is picturesque and on the banks of Leithen Water which comes off the nearby River Tweed. Surrounded by rolling hills and farms, this is lovely spot with cracking coffee to match.
